Chapter 6- We Respect All People Who is your neighbor?
Stealing- any action that unjustly takes away the property or rights of others
Justice- respecting the rights of others and giving them what is rightfully theirs; striving to live as God has called us to live and working for justices are required for disciples of Jesus and members of the Church
Lie- to speak or act falsely with the intention of deceiving others
Giving witness- having personal knowledge of a person or event and to tell others the truth about it
Truth- the foundation of all positive human relationships
Seventh Commandment- obliges us to show respect for the goods and property of others
Eighth Commandment- teaches us about the need for truth because giving false witness can harm others; obliges us to witness to the truth of Jesus and to tell the truth; “Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’”
Ninth Commandment- reminds us to become poor in spirit; we must respect and protect the fidelity of the marriage commitment
Tenth Commandment- obliges us to thank God for what we have, to work for what we need, and to help others to have what they need; we trust in God, knowing that his love is more important than money or success
Do you respect others and their relationships? How?
Temptation- an attraction to choose sin
Covet- to wrongly desire someone or something
Temperance- a Cardinal Virtue that moderates the attraction of pleasures and helps us to bring our desires into balance
Modesty- the virtue by which we think, speak, act, and dress in ways that show respect for ourselves and others
Pure of heart- living in the love of God, our Father, just as his Son, Jesus Christ, calls us to do, and allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us with goodness and love
Greed- an excessive desire to have or own things
Envy- a feeling of sadness when someone else has the things we want for ourselves
Poor in spirit- depending on God and making God more important than anyone or anything else
How can you live out the Seventh-Tenth Commandments?
