"Making a difference, one child at a time."
After teaching first grade for several years in a Queens charter school I felt that something was missing. I found myself looking to teach in a Catholic School where I could share my faith and knowledge with my students. I have now been teaching in Catholic schools for 14 years; four at LaSalle Regional School in Farmingdale and this is my 10th year at Holy Family. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
I received my undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s College in Child Study and my Master’s in Literacy from CW Post. I have certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Special Education. I also continue to seek our professional development opportunities to increase my knowledge of what is new in the ever changing world of technology.
In addition to teaching the Kindergarten - 8th grade students, I wear many other hats. I help maintain the hardware and software in the building. I provide training and support to the teachers to help them integrate technology into the classrooms and I help update and maintain PowerSchool.
When I’m not at school, I love being a mommy to my two silly and sweet little girls who fill my heart with so much joy.
What can students look forward to when they join your class?
Each year I look forward to watching you grow and learn and surprise yourselves with the projects we are creating online. We will use our class time each week to learn how to be safe online and make smart choices with what we visit and what we share online. We will use Google products to create and share the information we’re learning in all subjects. Finally, my favorite, we will use programs such as Scratch, Tynker, and CodeMonkey to make our screen come alive with coding.
Message to Parents
I look forward to working with you and your child this year and throughout your time here at Holy Family. In addition to teaching your children in class, please know that I am also here for you to help with any questions you may have with PowerSchool or our school Google Accounts. You can find helpful information and tutorials for using these products on my class page or reach out to me by email at edifazio@hfsli.org with any further questions you may have.
