Again this past Friday, all grades participated in STREAM! The children look forward to this activity all week. They work on the 4 C's of STREAM : Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking & Creativity, The 7th & 8th graders used playing cards to create their tallest tower. 6th graders worked in groups to create the best designed water tower. 5th graders built football fields and goal posts, along with paper footballs to try and score the most field goals. They learned about fractions, percentages and much more, all while having a lot of fun! The 4th graders compared how different substances react in plain water versus water with corn syrup. They added glitter, magnetic & non-magnetic bingo chips, and other items to their bottles and watched for reactions. They shook and used magnetic wands to show different reactions. 2nd graders used index cards and dot stickers along with scissors to attempt to create the highest, stable tower. They each worked in groups of 2 to plan and execute. The highest tower was 1 foot high! Way to go! Check out the STREAM tab on home page to see a few photos!
Our Holy Family School Brownie Troop coordinated with the Art Room and repurposed their cookie boxes to collect markers. They decorated and then distributed to all the classrooms at Holy Family School. All dried out markers were placed in the boxes and the girls collected them at the end of the year from the Art room and all the teachers' classrooms. Mrs. Ferreri shipped almost 1,000 markers back to Crayola to be recycled! Way to go girls! Cleaning up our earth, one marker at a time!
Mrs. Buckley's Pre-K children made lion hats on the letter "L" day. During their first STREAM Friday, they listened to the book, The Dot, and made fruit loop necklaces to wear!
