It's so great to be back at school in 2021! So much exciting news happening at HFS! Our 8th Grade students received their acceptance letters to their high schools and are beginning to choose their high school. We are so proud of their accomplishments. The children celebrated and learned all about Martin Luther King, Jr. and then later that week our country welcomed a new President and the first woman Vice President to our Country. We thanked and celebrated the Sisters of Amityville by making cards and hearts to decorate their convent. Many of our early childhood classes are learning about polar animals, how they stay warm and all their special characteristics. All classes also learned about "Respect Life" day on Friday and completed different assignments celebrating -that the life of every person, from conception to natural death, will be protected in our laws and cherished in our hearts.
The Pre-K students all celebrated 50 days by dressing up in their "50's" outfits including leather jackets, poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and the like! They sampled rootbeer floats, and danced the day away! This is always a fun trad
Our Rachel's Challenge leaders created a beautiful Thankful tree for Thanksgiving. Each student in the school colored a leaf and added what they are thankful for. This beautiful tree is displayed in the front windows of our school. They also organized a pantry drive and the students and families really came through! We received an abundance of paper towels, toilet paper, napkins and cooking oil that we sent over to Sr. Carol for the Holy Family pantry. Sr. Carol was overwhelmed with the amount of items that were sent in! Thank you to all our Holy Family families!
The whole school were dressed and ready for a fun-filled Halloween, even in the pouring rain! Check out some photos in "photos and more" from our homepage!
Our First Grade Teacher's Assistant, Ms. Errico, got married over the weekend! The children celebrated with a wedding party last week. The children were so excited to surprise her! Ms. Errico is now Mrs. Zadwarny! She looked absolutely beautiful. Best wishes to Mrs. Zadwarny and her husband for many years of wedded bliss!
Our families took the night off from cooking and attended Blaze Pizza at the Broadway Mall to enjoy some take out or eat in. Everyone enjoyed the night while raising funds for our school! Thank you to our Parents' Association for organizing and a 2nd thank you to Blaze Pizza. Check out our FaceBook page for more photos!
All of our students, nursery - 8th grade, gathered on the back lawn of the school to celebrate the beginning of our school year as a school community. We celebrated our first Mass as a school community. Fr. Gerard, Fr. Daniel & Fr. Liam concelebrated the Mass. Fr. Gerard told the students how happy he was to see us all together again, and while it is different, we are still together as one, holy family. Fr. Gerard emphasized how proud he is of all of them. He also thanked Mrs. Doherty for her tremendous efforts over the summer to open our school safely. We are grateful!
On Thursday, May 28th, our 8th Graders and their parents arrived at HFS parking lot for a special ceremony. Each car parked and each student walked toward the large Cross whereFr. Gerard gave each one a special blessing. They then lined up 6 ft. apart, paired with a faculty or staff member, and walked through the building and back out again for our traditional "leaving the building" scene for their 8th grade video. Each student runs out and poses or waves for the video! They then were gifted a Holy Family School graduation lawn sign to display at their homes. The 7th & 8th grade teachers presented them with their sign. A socially distant photo was taken in the back lot of the school. The students enjoyed seeing everyone and proudly returned to their smiling parents. This is the first of a few special events planned for our graduating class! We are all very proud of them!
The students and teachers are busy learning from home! We continue to pray for each of you and your families! Make sure you sign up for our facebook page and look for the video from Mrs. Doherty, our teachers and staff! We miss all of you!

We had an amazing week here at Holy Family School. On Monday, the entire school celebrated our cultures and we also celebrated our wonderful Principal, Mrs. Doherty. The classes showered her with cards and special drawings and gifts. On Tuesday, we celebrated all of our students! What a fun day! The children dressed in their pjs or comfy clothes and were treated to ice cream and a movie. On Wednesday, we invited in our Grandparents and special people to visit our school and our classrooms. What a treat! I think all had a fun time. In the afternoon, we had our annual spelling bee and Jorge Palacio, a 6th grader, came in first place. Devansh, a 4th grader, came in 2nd. Well done! On Thursday, we celebrated our support staff. Each class made something special for their special person in the school. We also had our Volunteer Tea in the morning for any volunteer that could make it. Each class came down to the cafeteria to present our volunteers with a song or a poem to thank them for all they do. And lastly, on Friday, we began with Mass and celebrated our teachers! We celebrated with an afternoon off! Thank you to all!

From the Holy Family Parish Bulletin - Our Advent Project benefiting Cross Catholic Outreach's program to build homes for families in Haiti has been very successful. As of the last week of December, we have collected $5,188 toward a goal of $6,981 which will provide a new home for a family. We thank the young people of our school, religious education and youth ministry who created and sold the ornaments that raised these funds. Also a special thank you to Sheila Ferreri and Cathy Weiss for their leadership and creativity. If you wish to contribute to our goal, please submit a check to Nancy Brown in the parish office by Friday, January 3, 2020.
