My name is Claire White, and this is my first year teaching English and religion at Holy Family School. Not only is this my first year being a part of this vibrant educational community, this is my first year teaching full time.
During my student teaching experience, I had the blessing of working at Saint Patrick’s School in Smithtown and St. John the Baptist Diocean high school. This May, I obtained my Bachelor’s in English Adolescent Education from St. Joseph’s University, a Catholic affiliated university in Patchogue. There, I got involved in the school’s campus ministry team. I had the pleasure of contributing my time and spirit to community service efforts and prayer services.
Going into this year, I am looking forward to sharing my love of writing and literature with my students. My goal is to not only help them bolster writing and reading comprehension skills to prepare them for high school and beyond, but to inspire them to live out their own stories as well. Also, I will be serving as the religion teacher for the sixth and seventh grade. As a class, students will prepare for the sacrament of confirmation and learn how to live out Jesus’ calling in their day to day life.
When I am not teaching, I am either cooking new recipes, writing stories, or going for long walks. I am also a book worm, hence why I went into the profession. A fun fact about me is that I am the proud owner of a tabby cat named Hudson. He is a bit of a handful but he keeps my life interesting.
