"Making a difference, one child at a time."
Where are you from?
Hello Pre- Kindergarten Families! My name is Mrs. Debbie Tota. I grew up in Huntington Station, New York and currently reside in Commack. I received my Bachelor of Science from Marywood University In Scranton, Pennsylvania, where I majored in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I received my Master of Science in Literacy from Dowling College.
How long have you been a teacher:
I have been a teacher since 1987. I have taught in Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook, St. Patrick’s in Huntington and was a substitute teacher at Holy Family Regional School in Commack, where all three of my children attended. I have taught 4th grade, Nursery, and AIS, but my love is Pre-Kindergarten.
Favorite Saint?
My favorite Saint would be… St. Valentine! For those who know me, my maiden name was Valentine. The patron saint of love and beekeepers! I love my students unconditionally and yes, I am a beekeeper!
Favorite Quote?
My favorite quote is “A person's a person, no matter how small”, by Dr. Seuss and of course his book, Oh The Places You’ll Go!
What can students look forward to when they join your class?
My wish and goal for all my students would be that they love school! School should be a place where you should feel love, be unique and enjoy every minute while you are learning! In Pre-K there is a world of excitement and learning that takes place from the minute they arrive until the end of the day. The best part is that my students are having fun while they are learning, and they don’t even know it! It is a hands on approach to learning their ABC’S and Numbers to prepare them for Kindergarten.
